Experience authentic Asturian living at Casona Azul Lue, a masterfully restored 1905 Indianos house in the privileged hilltop village of Lue. Just minutes from Asturias' most spectacular beaches, this rare vacation rental marries architectural heritage with spacious, modern comfort.
The house's iconic blue galería - a traditional glass-fronted balcony that has graced Lue for over a century - gives the property its beloved local name. Over two years, an Australian interior designer and her Spanish artist husband, working with local carpenters and artisans, carefully preserved its soul while reimagining the home as a contemporary retreat rooted in tradition.
✶A HOUSE WITH HISTORY: BUILT IN 1905✶
Built in 1905 by an Asturian who made his way to Cuba, opened a hardware store, and returned to build three houses for his sisters, Casona Azul Lue is a living testament to the Indianos legacy - a time when hard work abroad translated into architectural beauty back home. This house reflects a remarkable chapter of Asturian history, when emigrants returned not just with money, but with new ideas, dreams, and a deep love for the land they left behind.

Rather than impose modernity, the renovation revealed and celebrated what was already there. Original stone walls and massive beams were uncovered and restored. Chestnut planks from the neighboring stable were transformed into staircases, shelves, beds, and desks. Upstairs, three bedrooms are connected by a wide hallway that culminates in a spacious built-in daybed - a mountain-view loveseat cradled in the middle of the galeria, creating a perfect private retreat within the home.

The dedicated children's room includes a bunk bed, mini play kitchen, games, and a spacious wardrobe that can also be used by other guests when the room is unoccupied.
